ill answer that question kim...
the trance scene in Japan is based around Yoji Biomehanika and Ferry Corsten... Yoji's hard dance is THEE sound of Tokyo... the progressive scene does not pull very well unless its well advertised... the Armin show did NOT pull at all... at the venue where it was at, it can hold around 4,000 people... Yoji sold that place out... Armin got like around 6-700 people at most...
the main trance club of Tokyo is Club Velfarre, its very famous for its Cybertrance(UK hard house and anthem trance) nights... the technology of the club is by far better then any other club in the world, no joke... this club is sponsored by Avex Recordings, Japan's top recording industry... DJs like Johan Gielen, Ferry Corsten, Push, Rank 1, can commonly be seen there as they are signed under that label... in fact, Johan Gielen got his start doing a residency there weekly when the club opened in 95...
another very popular scene is the Goa/Psy scene... LOTS of clubs that play this stuff... in the summer, some of the top Goa festivals in the world are held around Mt. Fuji... all the big names in this genre make it over to one of these Festivals, Infected Mushroom is a common act...
and in case youre wondering, no Ayumi never performs her music with the trance remixes... but she is currently the main music icon of Japan...

i went to the last two AnB shows (or Dirt Devils), and my friend went to the ones before that, said he never saw her... but actually, youre right in another way, i do remember seeing a clip of her on a show where she was performing with the AnB remix of "Maria"... my friend also reminded me that "Connected" is partly produced by Ferry Corsten, but ive yet to see her perform it... probly wont now either since im out of Japan...
