Definition of a Trance Addict

Since i have signed up on these boards, i have seen more flames than a fireman, of course haha. That i knew existed before i started posting and i am used to it and all but recently my only fellow trance addict i converse with in person and i were talking and it brought me to ask an interesting question. How many people are truly trance addicts, now in this day and age there are SO many sub genres of trance, Epic, Prog, Melodic, Acid, Hard, Cybertrance, Psy, Goa, just to name a few that i see regularly, and there are more, but genres get so jumbled lolz it is nicer to keep it simple, but the question i had was, How many people are truly trance addicts?

With so many grumbles and gripes, all being about epic trance pretty much ahah, and the "Cheesy, comercial, sellout, gay, stupid yadda yadda vocals" that ruined the song it makes me wonder, do the people griping know of genres such as goa, where vocals are easily avoided?
Nearly all the griping i see, seems to be about epic trance heh. So i am curious, how many people out there are like me where if it ends in trance, they like the genre as a whole. For me trance is life, hardly a minute is spent with it off, depending on mood is what type of trance i listen to. But i love all trance. And i ask this, how can one say they are a trance addict if they say something like "Progressive trance sucks!" or "Hard trance is shit" all of it is trance, and if you are addicted i think you need to take it all in heh, i know we all have our fav genres, but IMHO i think true addicts love it all, i know there are more out there that do, but for all of you grumblers and gripers, take some of that energy and explore the lesser comercialised ends of trance. All trance is incredible, but genres such as Psy trance for example have far more complex song structuring and arent as predictable as epic tunes often become. Perhaps people with a broader knowledge of all the sub genres of trance could take the time to educate the rest of us on alternatives to "stupid crappy comercial sellout" trance haha, i know i welcome every song recomendation with open ears and an appetite for new ch00nage haha.

Welp just my caffiene influenced ramble haha, but wondering if other people are on my wavelenght.

well, congrats, i think you're the first real TranceAddict, because i doubt there are people who really like everything in trance.
its a bit too easy to say 'its all trance', because -as you say- there are soo many different types of it, so then its harder to like everything.
In the end i think most of us will concentrate on a specific genre.

as for me, i live with music all the time too, and trance has strenghten my passionate feeling for it a big time. trance takes in the bigger cut, like 3/4, but therefore i dont neglect the non-eletronic stuff.

but hm yeah, i wonder too how many REAL TA's there are, maybe a poll shall bring an answer...

amen brother

i know people who "like" trance or dont mind it an im fine with that. However, its the people who reckon they know it all an are proper addicts an who then turn their nose up at say somethin by dumonde, callin it crap. its alright if they dont like the particular tune but when they dont like any of the tunes then you start wonderin. I dont know anyone who likes any and every type of trance. Proper tranceaddicts are few an far inbetween as nearly everyone seems to be either at oen extreme or the other. I'd like to call myself a proper tranceaddict but at the mo, im still exploring...

Personally, I like Progressive more. But I don't despise other sub-genres. It's all about each's musical preference...

Thats like one of the best posts I've read in a long time. Someone who wants people to just stop the bullsh!t, and just love their music.

I for one, love and live for trance. I call myself a tranceaddict, others may beg to differ (more hardcore then me!). I don't only love trance though, I love all genres from house to jungle to progressive, I love it all. Everything excecpt for that experimental stuff (random noises), and that 200 + BPM speedcore stuff.

I think its pretty stupid to diss other genres, its all about personal reference. What gets to me the most is DJs who do that. I thought a DJ would surely be someone who excepted all forms of music, for they should know how other people feel about their passion. But nooooooo, we have people talking trash about anything they dont spin. Pure ignorance.

Anyways...

Hi my name is Alex, and I'm a trance addict

haha i truly am addicted tho, if i go for over 2 days with no trance i get grouchy lmfao, and i am not kidding, but I for one feel i am a serious trance addict, every trance genre i have heard i love, everyone haha, depending on mood, i do listen to other music from time to time but trance is my life, 10 hours a day of trance is normal for me at least, often more, sometimes by mid day saturday, say 10 in the morning i have already listened to a 24 hour block of trance, i am just now learning more about Goa and Psy trance, those are like my final frontiers haha, but while i am loving those i still love the others too, i really enjoy prog, but other times all i wanna do is blair hard/tech/acid trance ahah, i just really wish people who claim to be trance addicts would comit energy to finding the types of trance more for them instead of whining bout the comercialized epic genre, i love epic trance but there is so much out there that you can listen to that isnt "sellout" or what not,
I really would like to know how many trance addicts are out there that love it all we now have 2 lolz, and i still feel you can be addicted with out loving it all. Just gets old seeing some one claiming to be addicted saying this and that sux, i garuntee you no heroin junky is telling his dealer how junk sux haha.

So cmon folks stop the whining, we listen to trance for the elements it has that no other music has, those energy levels are in all the types of trance, so pic your flavor or horde em all like me, and celebrate dont hate lolz

Amen to that. It'd be nice if people would all get along and respect other's opinions... but of course it won't happen, just like world peace oh well.

Btw, new Michelle Branch album on June 24th Tuesday!!! YAY!!! How's that for something non-trance?

i agree with what you all said!

all trance that i've ever heard, no matter which subgenre, i've at least liked. i have my favorites, but almost anything that is trance will get me going, including some really commercial stuff.

trance is not the only thing i listen to (i'm also heavily into folk, classic rock, jazz, EBM/industrial, just to name a few), but i definitely feel addicted to it.

for me, trance is not just an addiction. it's a fetish.
