starter DJ gear

for a starter, should i bother paying a little extra for the technics SL1200 MKII's that i see everyone has, or should I just get some cheaper direct drive tables... these would mostly for mixing however i would like to be able to scratch as well. also it seems like Vestax mixers are very popular... Good for newb DJs?

the SL1200's are a good idea, but, vestax is expensive for what you get, go for the behinger VMX300, cheap and decent
