my coworkers and i use a radio at work to communicate to one another. i'm sure alot of you use the same thing if you work in building or retail stores or whatever.
well two of my coworkers are spanish and they speak spanish to one another through the radio and everyone can hear it.
it makes us feel left out and well i can't explain it. it gets annoying like they are talking behind our backs sicne they are the only ones that know spanish.
it would be more appropriate if they talked to each other in person not through the radio walkies and that everyone can hear it.
what should i say? what shoud i do? do i have the right's to say something. some of my coworkers are bothered from it but for some reason our boss or manager doesn't say antying about it. so we are hessitant to say anthing cause we might be heated upon or speculated for being maybe racist.
what is your take on this????????

I know how you feel man. I have an aunt (not blood related) who is from Venezuela. At any gathering where her family members are present she speaks to them in Spanish. Luckily, I know Spanish so I can figure out what they're all saying

I can understand why it's annoying but you've got no right to say anything. If the company have a policy where all radio communication must be monitered then the bosses could insist I suppose but on the grounds you mention then.....it's just tough.
If you went to spain with a mate would you talk to each other in spanish?

yeah, i know what you mean. i used to work in a restaurant where the owners spoke chinese, and i was washing dishes. they were alway yammering back and forth about stuff and i couldn't understand. sometimes they would say what sounded like insults and point right at me!
anyway, to answer you question, no i don't think it's in appropriate.
u gotta just learn to ignore it or have fun with it. most of my friends speak polish & i don't understand a damn thing they are saying. so I just learned a few things & break their balls all the time to annoy them. they speak polish, i tell them to fuck off or that i screwed their sisters in polish. just learn a few funny spanish phrases & break balls till they eventually get the hint.

isn't it company policy to always speak english unless using the bilingual skills to help a customer
i have a summer job in a grocery store where we have a lot of spanish and italian people (mostly spanish though). they sometimes talk to each other in spanish / italian, and i sometimes talk to my buddy in russian, but nobody gets offended. i know it's rather an arrogant thing to do - to speak in a language in front of somebody who doesn't understand that language, so it's just a question of morality to me.
