I believe you need a room in a room construction if you want to isolate sound. If want want to improve the acoustics of your room then you might want to check this: http://www.saecollege.de/reference_material/index.html

I thought this could be usefull in case you misunderstand the purpose of a room in a room.

on topic, does any1 know how do reduce bass output from going downstairs, as my room is above the living room u can see the problem hehe

I believe that's the purpsose of a room in a room. If you're lucky, you can reduce the bass with a basstrap, but I'm not sure if it will be good enough.

Check the links if you want. There is information about building basstraps, and you can ask the question in the John Sayers forum.
