Angry I tried that warped records trick and . . .

I tried that warped records trick and it COMPLETELY DESTROYED one of my vinyls. what am I doing wrong here? I tried using a blow dryer, a heat pad, even a pot of hot water. I put it between the glass, put weight/heat on top, let it cool, and voila!: a record that was twice as warped than before.

can anybody help me out?
my best guess is im not heating evenly enough, maybe I'll try putting it in the hot attic.

yeah,, i tried it on one of my real warped records that i had replaced by the shop, so i had nothing to loose. it was one that was so warped that the needle would hop. I did it and it seemed worse than before. I dont know what happened, but oh well

I posted about my results trying something similar to this a while back but I'll try to remember it as best as I can. I basically took a warped vinyl, heated up my oven until the top burner was red hot, took out the racks, and with gloves on of course, held the vinyl under the heat. Within seconds, the vinyl started to bend. You will actually be shocked at just how quickly the heat affects these things. As it started to bend to where it was as close to flat as I was going to get it, I removed it from the heat. The vinyl then played just fine. Give it a shot. You've got nothing to lose.

jesus people. I dont know why you all go for the zany schemes for fixing your records. All i use is 4 coat hangers, 6 eleastic bands, a bunson burner, half a jug of vasaline, and two slabs of glass

BEND THEM FOR GODSAKES. I fix my warped records in less then 30 seconds, i just crank the son of a bitch over me knee. I got an order from the UK and 3 of the records were warped to hell. I fixed them all in a few mins of applying pressure in the right areas.

it IS as SIMPLE as that, I hate to hear of people fucking up their records with heat

? i don't know, that don't work for me. I bend them till they feel like they are about to break, and when i let go they snap right back to where they were!

maybe i'm not bending hard enough, i've never broke one yet.

you can bend them lots before they break. YOu got to do it in the right place ti fix a warped area.

Take a shitty record ie: "watergate - heart of asia" and bend it untill it breaks just to see how much it can take. YOu can usualy bend a record like a taco.

the only real solution to this is to just go and buy another record. i dont think heating up the vinyl is a good idea either.... the grooves will melt and be disfigured when it hardens(probably what happened to your vinyl when you put a blow dryer to it). just take care of you vinyls... know how to store them in your home.
