Ok i might upset some folk by disagreeing with you here so i apologuise upfront.
Firstly GC's Creative and Brand ID is produced By TDR, now being a designer myself i hold a lot of respect for these guys mainly due to them having a huge positive impact on the design scene.
Now for me personally i adore what they have done with GC, taking away all this cheesy garbage you see on the electronic music scene. I wont go into more depth about this as you'll all wanna punch me very hard on the nose.
Ive said this a hundred times before; the trance scene contains the worse sense of design and creative thinking ive seen out of all the other genres of music there is. Now hopefully once myself and Magnasoma finish Mike Shiver's and Ronski Speed's sites people might be able see how much trance is needing good design. Im sorry for going on abit here and i know that i sound like im blowing smoke up mine and Mag's ass BUT ive been a designer for 4 years now and have got pretty far up the ladder and yes...fuck it i will say it. I know what im talking about.
We should all be grateful for TDR and what they have done with GC.
Again sorry for pissing anyone off.
Yours truely

I agree with you, TDR did some of the most eye catching and creative designs, e.g Discotech Gen Album etc, but since the beginning of this year they have gone for this different style which may be different just looks, rushed, unprofessional (like they had a 2yr old in the office with some crayons)
There are some real good designs out there, In my opnion, that thing up there *points up the thread* is not.

that kind of design, altho it looks easy, is pretty hard to do properly. Its easy to do badly tho, just open up photoshop and draw.
The whole 80's throwback punk/electro thing is actually pretty relevant for trance - its like a grown up design-take on cyber, as in the cyber u wear, not the cyber u listen to. Which for me anyway has the GC feel about it. You see, trance visuals and graphics are REALLY REALLY crap on the whole. Dance and house have got it pretty slick, but they just use photos of models, so its not exactly hard. Hed Kandi has got it fkin sorted. Their stuff owns - it defines their genre perfectly.
GC's older cd releases, all by tDR, have been good solid design pieces, like the global sound system cd, disco-tech etc but they really just are extensions of tDR's portfolio - the new stuff, from Residet 2 and the flyers we get here in london are a step away into a more original direction for them.
And yeah, there is one underlying factor that makes these babies a good piece of design. Whether you like it or not, it fkin werks. Its fluoro pink, white and black. You can't not notice it, so it does its job. And that's wot its all about at the end of the day.
