Spreading the Sound

recently, quite a few people i know personally have taken to trance. i have jus let them listen to some of my stuff (namely dumonde@te) an they have become quite alikened to it. this also from people who used to like rock etc. i think the problem most people have with trance is that they all think its all cheese and dj sammy.

any other ideas then as to what i can get peeps to listen to in order to spread the sound? (tracks etc)
ive got a lot of mates (who listen to dnb hiphop etc) who wreck trance an i wanna at least make the playing field level. i find peeps who like rock an that kinda stuff take to it but i ent got a clue of wot other electronic genres would like to listen to.

any help much appreciated,
cheers

old school anthems is what got me hooked.... stuff like tenshi and out of the blue... then you can work your way from there...

live sets are a good idea too, cause if you play them the full song, after 1 min of intro beats they get bored and think the whole song is like that...

Youve pretty much got a good set to let your mates listen, also try the johan gielen set from september 2001 trance energy, katana - fancy fair to marco v - stimulated to svenson & gielen - twisted is a awesome section of that set, and imm sure your mates will like it

I converted some very persistent people using this method. I think for 3 very important reasons:

1) Confinement. They can't avoid the 2-3 min build-up beats that usually put them off.

2) Energy. Something about moving fast (physically or mentally) and trance that sets the tone.

3) Daydreams. For those long stretch of highways were conversation is dead there is nothing like listening to Jan Johnston singing to Tiesto.

Anyways, some very popular songs were
Paul Van Dyk vs BT - Flaming June
Yahel - DNA (deep mix)
Billie Ray Martin - Honey (Tiesto mix)
GTR - Mistral
Sun Decade - I'm Alone (Ronski Speed Mix)

actually come to think of it - every song that I had became quite popular. Just don't get your friends into Darude and the likes - they can listen to that on the radio. I personally got introduced to electronic music by listening to Agnelli & Nelson - El Nino, Daft Punk - Around the World, Paul Van Dyk - For an Angel - so you really don't need top 40 stuff.

Hope that helps - good luck in spreading the light.

ps: its also important not to diss other genres of music. After all you're preaching a peace loving culture - a religion to many.

Hey, you should be a priest!!!
And by the way, isn't it in the middle of the night in Canada, don't you ever sleep??

if you want to make a girl addicted, give her soft vocal tunes, if you want to make a guy addicted, give him banging stuff. but this is generalization, it obvioulsy depends on the person and their "pre-trance" musical taste.

But all three of those tracks went top 40 (here at least), places 21, 5 and 28 respectively.
