Mp3z in clubs?

Ok, in a few weeks I have a friends party coming up at a club and for the 1st time I want to try out using the Pioneer CDJ1000 for a few tracks which I know will go down a treat but are not available on vinyl. At what Kps is sufficient to play on a club system off cd??

I can only find rips of these tracks at 192 kps and this seems fine, however - is there any reason why they will sound different on a huge club system??

any advice with eqs etc..

thannks in advance

Be careful if you choose to play mp3's as it's not exactly legal. There is a noticable (to some) difference in sound quality too.

MP3s are a compressed format, and the way they work is to eliminate all the inaudible to human frequencies. These frequencies are in the low lows and the high highs, so your bass won't be as strong and powerful, and your highs will not shine as well.
In my opinion, a 320kbit rip is the only way you should play it on a club's system. DO your best to find the real CD or vinyl of the tracks you want to play on CD.

On the same note, I ask this question...
Where do pro-DJs get their CDs from? burnt? singles directly from labels?? in several videos of DJs in action, i've seen them using the Pioneer CDJ-1000s plenty of times. so I wanna now how I could do the same.

most of the bigger DJs that use cd players are playing their own productions/recontructions/reworks. two good examples of DJs that do this are Markus Schulz and PvD (although PvD has been using Final Scratch lately). since they are their own productions the compression is prob minial if at all existent.

when you record somethig normaly its in wav format which is the best cant remember what its raiting is anyways they probly just dont compress it after all they have people that will take the time to download one song per cd for em. (wav takes up alot more space)

there was a discussion about this earlier and i tend to think differently:

a club system [unless they invested most of their money in extremely nice speakers] is usully really loud..really boomy or whatever so you probably wont tell the difference in quality as long as you get your levels right. plus noone is really listening that hard to tell the difference

the system that i use in my room is exceptionally nice so i can hear the difference...even in a 320kbps rip.

in that last thread i was refering to...someone said they played a 128kbps song and noone noticed so it hink you will be ok. jsut watch the levels becuase mp3s arent exactly homogeneious in the way they were riped.

about 3-4 years ago i went to a cheesy club in nottingham, and dave pearce was playing, and he was mixing off mp3's.
but i think its completely wrong, im 100% against the use of CD decks and mp3's in a club, cos at the end of the , its cos of turntablism that we have what we have now, so im all for that ... cos maybe in a few years when more and more DJs start using Cd's more often, the turntable will become as obsolete as the tape deck

well, it's a fact that only a tiny-tiny bit of all releases reach the CD market, or getting a cd release..

so that is a huge prob for CD dj's..

Look @ my favorite trance label:

http://www.discogs.com/label/In_Trance_We_Trust

Only yahel- voyage, and cor fijneman- venus are released on CD single.

The big DJs who use CDs are usually spinning the hottest new promos....

I don't think CDJing is bad, but I don't agree with MP3s for the most part (for spinning in public). Yes they likely burn with .wav, so the quality is best.

allright being a mainly cd dj myself i get really pissed off when people download the music, it really destroys the name of cdjs if you want something on vinil buy the vinil and record it onto your computer then burn it, this way its in wav format and you dont need to worry about mp3s you dont need to compress it couse cds are durt cheap and im sure you can buy enough to hold all your songs, just dont play downloaded songs (besides being ilegal) it destroys the indestry, peace
