the Senn HD25 was 'the dj' headphone for a few years. I think it still is considered as a standard for some ppl. However, I feel that many things like I feel that advertising and sponsership influences many djs to buy lesser quality headphones. Many times i see ppl considering headphones that a couple of years back would be considered junk. However, now those same 'junk' cans are respectable, because they saw tiesto or Van dyk wearing them. Pure BS.
Also, part of the reason why I think the Senn HD25 has not gotten the respect it deserves from a broad market, is because of its looks.
Many consumers, djs or not, like purchasing items that are pleasing to the eye, and they usually will sacrifice a bit of quality for it.
I actually got a chance to try out the senns HD25 just a couple of weeks back.... all i have to say is they are quality. I own a pair of MDR7506 (pro versoin of sony's V6), and even though the sony mDR7506 does sound good for its price, I feel the Sennheiser HD25 sound better. Highs are more natural, not as bright and the bass and mids are better. I dont think we can also compare the HD25 to the HD280, cause you cantt... sound is just better on the HD25, ive heard them both. The sound is even better on my MDR7506 than the HD280
