i like your take on the situation, but at the same time, don't get into what you like to do and automatically expect a 'good pay.'
as for what you want to do. well, there's always work to be had, otherwise, they wouldn't be offering the course, but my suggestion would be to not completely pigeonhole yourself. that is, instead of taking web design, take interactive media. instead of taking musical composition, take audio interaction or something.
be more broad, so that you can have a career in not just what you specialize in, but also something that can be tangible to your field. but naturally, don't go too far.
college is supposed to teach you how to learn before it teaches you how to be an expert in a certain field. don't forget that.
