i did a search but did not find anything all too great. does anyone have it (version 1.1 or 1.0) or has anyone used it? if so, what are your opinions. i am going to be acquiring a pair of turntables and while i will be buying vinyl for them, my monthly budget will not allow for as many tracks as i would like to obtain. also, if you do have it, where did you buy it from and how much did you pay. pretty much everywhere i have found has it for $499. thanks.

talk with dj tranz he talked about a final scratch deal in 450 americans... or something like that.

i had used the final scratch one time in a dj shop and it is very nice except that you can't see on the record if it is on a break or something like that (you should see the software window and then you know if you are in the breakdown or shit...)

i think it also don't output the same quality and depth as real vinyl because real vinyl is pressed within higher quality, and when you encode track to mp3 they lose that high quality - altough they might still sound very good...

in my opinon the final scratch is a good investment - you'll get the tracks you always wanted on vinyl... but i think you should continue buying regular vinyl but in a smaller amount - this is part of the fun being a vinyl dj.

I have it and i love it. I got it for 500.00 and its well worth it.

I have it and love it as well (I am running 1.1).
Sound quality is basicly as good as your mp3 (although at very low speeds it sounds choppy), this does not happen when using wavs.
I really like it a lot. You might be able to save like 25 bucks by buying version 1.0 and then getting the upgrade kit to 1.1, instead of just getting 1.1 (although 1.1 comes with heavier vinyl that most "mix" DJs prefer).

After seeing Chris Leibing spin a set in Atlanta with FS, I had to have it.

Regarding sound quality, the only thing that clued me in that something was ‘up’ was that he was spinning the same two vinyls over and over and over again. I had been following FS for a while and was absolutely amazed when I finally got to see and hear it. It did sound great on the club’s PA.

But, after getting it, I found out that the majority of my downloaded MP3s that I have sound like shit- because its garbage in, garbage out. When you blast some 128kbs MP3 that came from god knows where on a decent PA, it most likely is gonna sound like crap. I will gladly PAY for decent MP3 singles from the labels.

The program is a bit buggy. It sometimes takes me a couple of reboots for both decks to be recognized and it sometimes hangs when I am trying to do some file management within the system. I don’t really care for being a beta tester for a system I spent $500 on, but, if I’m careful with what I am doing, it is stable enough to spin with.

It does require a fast computer. I installed it on an ‘old’ three year old PC I had with 256k ram and a clean hard drive, and it took forever for some functions. I installed it on my current PC (P4 2.4, 512k ram) and it runs a lot better. I am debating with myself to either buy a laptop to make it portable (it will take a $1500-$2000 laptop to make it run decent) or building a barebones PC with a cheap small flat panel that I can lug around.

The vinyl ‘feels’ like vinyl. You lay the needle down and it plays right where you laid it down. Speed it up, slow it down. Whatever, it ‘feels’ right. Absolutely amazing.

When you show people what you are using, they are amazed… to stop and then back up a record while watching it all on a computer monitor is SO cool.

Oh yeah, bought it from Pro Sound with free shipping and had it within a couple of days. You may find it cheaper, but when Im buying anything on the Internet, I always go for someplace I know. Someone who I know that "In Stock" means "In Stock" and will be shipped within a day without any bullshit message "on backorder" AFTER I give my CC.

Yes its funny how people say the quality is crap...i recently watched some drum & bass dj spin at a party....he was absolutely amazing I go up to the booth to watch him spin....and i notice he never changed the records....I was like hmmm...what the hell is he doing?? lol ...i look down in front of the mixer and sure enough....the final scratch hub

freeflytim, I realize that 128kps is gonna sound like crap as they alreafy do on your computer but what about 192kps? Would that still not be high enough or would you need to have something in th 320kps range? I am just curious because I am considering buying it. Please help me out.

If you were ripping from an original CD or Vinyl- I would rip at 320.
192 would cut out the lows a little. 192 would be fine maybe. But I would still do 320.
