I'm starting of in the dj thing....got some technics....i have a moddest collection of 10 records...hard-house...trance....hard-trance.thing is....i want to scratch and i heard you carnt scratch using trance...not sure about hard-house and hard-trance.I know most people scratch over r&b....rap....hip-hop etc.....i dont mind this music to listin too but i dont really wanna get into the genre of music because its not me really.I dont mind hip-hop, r&b atually...thing is i dont know anything bout the genre....wot should i do just pick any record that looks good.....and listin....or go with r-kelly and that sort of stuff....you see i dont know what my style of music is yet....is this normal!...

you can scratch over trance, house or techno, it just has to sound good. Try to grab Eddie Halliwell's sets and xek out for yourself!don't follow rules really, create your own style!

Eddie Halliwell is the man scratch on hard trance/trance/hardhouse, i have heared a set of him from mixmag

Try looking into the funky breaks genre. It seems to me that most of the tricks and scratches made famous by various dj's through the years can easily be used in breaks mixing. I really can't go into more detail but definitely look into em as a scratching alternative.

Donald Glaude, tech-house dj who scratches a LOT in his sets. to see him live is simply awesome.
