most powered speakers like that take xlr connectors so you probably need whatever adaptor you need depending on what your mixer has and what your speakers will have

As for balanced connections, they are better because they provide better shielding against interferences (and usually carry a higher level signal). But for short distances (like in your home) unbalanced is more than good enough, don't worry.
