I've been reading some threads and I realized I have no idea how to tell the difference between progressive trance and trance. Same goes for house. Is there any way to explain it is words? Examples? btw what is IMO? I thought is was "I am out" for a while because it seemed to appear at the end of someones post, but now i see it in places where "I am out" wouldn't make sense. cool IMO.

IMO means "in my opinion" and IMHO means "in my humble/honest opinion"

Well actually "progressive-trance" is a sub-genre of trance. It's slower and deeper then trance, less melodic and creates this kinda "dirty" mood. Usually it borrows elements from other genres (mostly from house)...
PS: neither trance nor progressive "suck" or are "better"/"worse" .. they are just different.
prog is more minimal sounding then standered trance. its buildups are generally slower and less epic sounding. and the tracks are generally longer.
if you want a good example that compares progressive trance to trance or epic trance
take sasha's GU 013 CD 1 (prog. trance) and compare that to say Kimball Collins - International Club Union or Generation Trance 2000 (Trance).
if you want some minimal progressive house check out Doc Martin.
if you want some standered progressive check out Sander Kleinenberg (altho he goes into alot of different places with his music), Steve Lawler or Satoshi Tomeii (more prog. house).
