Review: Oakenfold at Tonic, Toronto
First, if this has already been posted, I couldn't find it, so I appologize.
Second, this is a little out-dated, but I just got all signed up and shit as a TrancEaddict... Yeah!...
Anyway, did any of you fellow TrancEaddicts go to Tonic in Toronto about a month ago to see Paul Oakenfold spin, with Max Graham?
I was all excited about it, went early to line up, and all the groupie stuff.
But, in my opinion, it sucked..
First, I was there from about 9pm (I think that's when I got in, close enough), and I left at about 1:30 am. (Yes, that's early, but I couldn't stand it anymore, it was that bad.)
I heard maybe 1 or 2 trance songs... Now I expected about 90% of the stuff to be stuff I hadn't heard before, and that held true, only it wan't trance, it was house... Maybe a little hard house, and a wee bit of progressive house, but mostly classic house, and boom boom boom - without the music....
As I said, I left early, so I don't know if it got any better later on, but I downloaded a live broadcast from there that I think was recorded around 2-4am, and it sucks too.
Basically, I'm curious if anyone else went, and how they felt about it?
Also, I think Tonic was pretty pathetic as far as security goes... I don't think there was a single minute that I was there that someone wasn't smoking fatty... And I saw some guy walk past me with two BIG handfulls of weed... Just clumps in his hand... I guess he was selling it or just bought it, or whatever, I don't know, but it's sick.
Alright, that feels a little better...
