hey. when i do bass change overs it kinda sounds like the first song gets totaly overpowered by the new song, like its harder to hear the mids and highs so it sounds like im just wacking the crossfader over and sometimes sounds a bit shite. how do i stop this? shud i boost the mid and hi's on the outgoing record? or turn up the out going records trim to make it louder? or something else? i tryed a few things and they havent worked so far, idealy i want to b able to do slow smooth bass changeovers but i find when i do this the beats clash and u can hear some beats louder then others and it just sounds shite. any advice please people?

a) use the channel gain controls to set the volume of the incoming track properly, do this with your EARS not the idiot LEDs
b) cut the mid/high of the incoming track 10db or so so it doesnt overpower the mid/high of the outgoing track, assuming you are trying to get the bass only of the incoming track in the mix. then bring them up later on in the transition.
c) as you bring the bass up on one side, use your other hand to reduce the bass on the other side.
d) use the chanel level faders to your advantage

well you may be mixing songs with keys that totaly clash.

but as the person above said. use the EQ's to ease in the new song.

i almost always start with the lows of the new track brought down as low as i can bring them. then the mids down 1 quarter same with the highs, i then slowly bring up the volume of the new track (i always use the channel faders and i keep the crossfader in the middle the entire time), and start mixing the EQ's.
