after i disconnect/reconnet my power cord and then it just starts to work.. it's so weird but it gets annoying because i have to do this everytime.. and the computer store where i got this from is very far and i dont feel like going there again.. anyone know anything i can do physically to stop this problem? I've had experience with TWO Maxtors, both 40 gigs. Both died.
The 40 gig maxtor sucks. End of story.

if something is wrong with a hard drive it will show up when you 1st get it (1-2 weeks) after that ur out of the woods.

you should go to maxtor's site download and run their disk drive utility. This will unequivocally tell u the health of ur drive.

obviously u should be backing up everything until u get things resolved.

Buy a Seagate...that will help

If you just bought the computer within the last 90 days it shoudl be under the computer company's warranty. I would check with them.
