i recently pushed my stanton 500 carts farther up the headshell to get more tracking force, and now my sound kicks in and out of the left speaker. obviously this is because the wriing is loose. how do i get those little clasps tighter around the gold pieces of the cartridge? and is that what is causing the problem?

you could probably use a needlenose plier to make the connection tighter. try cleaning them with wd-40 also...probably loose with some dirt or oxidation or whatever happens when a metal gets old

take a wire stripper and use the gauge closest to the gauge of the connections on the back of the cartridge and squeeze the opening of the wires a little smaller, and see how it fits... if it is still a little loose, just tighten a little more.

dont use pliers because they will pinch the ends of the wires, making it harder to fit. using a wire stripper will keep it cylindrical (sp?), just decrease the size of it
