Question Question: Water on decks

Hey guys, haven't posted in a while...
Well, somehow a good half a glass of water was split on one of my decks and it was soaked. I didn't realise this until the next day, so there was water there for a while.
I took the plater off and unscrewed the top and wiped as much water as i could off it. Now it's next to a dehumidifer and hopefully all the water will be gone in a day or so. I won't turn it on until then. I found that one of the circuit boards had like a few white blotches on it, does this happen when water reacts with it??? Anyone have similar experiences or can just give some advice???

Andrew.

yep, it's wise not to turn on your tables in a few days. Otherwise, you'll create even more damage. Water can oxidate the copper wires, but, one day, that's too fast. Try keeping your TT warm, then the water evaporates quicker and can't oxidate any copper wires. If the water got into your motor, you're probably got a pretty huge problem with only 1 solution. A new motor (actually, that's not funny )

One of the most important rules that have to be followed in my room is: NO FOOD OR DRINK NEAR MY TURNTABLES.

I think it is a wise rule

NO! Don't keep your decks warm, it'll only increase the rate of oxidation. I think....

No, the copper will react with the water(witch is a very weak acid). It's a pretty slow reaction, so you need to get the water out ASAP.
