for all of you vinyl djs, do you use a record box or a record box to haul around your tunes? i've been looking around the web and UDG record bags are looking good to me because they have pockets for my headphones and carts and they look pretty sturdy. plus alot of big name djs use them, so they cant be too bad. i'm not flying with them, just store'n my vinyl and taking them and my 'phones/ carts to gigs. what do you guys use/ think?

Since I like to keep things as together as possible when traveling in general, I'd be more inclined to go with the bag that has the place for headphones and carts. It's also a bit easier to throw over your shoulder and haul around as opposed to lugging around a case.

it comes down to a matter of preference imo...
if you're paranoid about your records, you get a case, then you lug it around like you're always moving from home A to home B to home C, but you're records will be in pristine condition.
me? i like the smaller record bags. i have one that holds about 50 records, came with a little box for my cartridges, and has a pouch for my headphones. regardless of where i go, i've never gonna use more than a couple dozen records, so the bag is perfect size for me, and it's a hell of a lot easier than hauling around a huge ass record box. hope that helps

well i have both a record bag and a case for my records.
i use them both when i have to transport lots of records.
but when i'm going out to just play a few tunes i find that what works best is my backpack. is just wide enuf to fit a record. i can actually pack more records into my Jan Sport backpack than my technics record bag.

UDG is my choice, any time. They're as solid as cases, have more storage options (phones, extra bags for promo cd's ), easier to carry. Used cases before, switched to UDG and never went back.

thanks for the replies, i was thinking that a bag was the way to go but its always good to get some opinions first. i bought carts about a year ago with consulting anybody first and now i have a nice set of Stanton Trackmaster II SKs. i certainly didnt want to repeat a mistake of that magnitude.

I have a big clear box i got from ikea that i store my records in, and a bag i bought from radioshack (meant for transporting laptops) that i use to transport my records. I can fit at least 50 or so in there, and that's all i need, it's a really awesome bag, with side pockets, and as a bonus, it turns into a packsack so you can carry it that way too.
btw @ dartman:
you like those needles? I wasn't too happy with them, even though they came highly reccomended.
oops my bad, i meant to say WITHOUT consulting anybody first. no i dont really care for these needles too much. i am actually planning on getting some groovemaster tips for them, i've heard that all of the stanton ----master carts have the same body, and the groovemasters are supose to sound alot better. it beats buying a whole new set of carts
