Transitions

Just wondering how long on average everyones transitions last, for me it depends (I think it does for most people), with:
Trance = about 30+ seconds
Hard Trance = about 15 to 30 seconds
House = about 20 seconds
Hard House = 15 seconds
Top 10 music = 0 seconds (Cos I will never touch that crap)

I never pay attention to how long my transitions are. I know I like to make em longer and see how far I can make my skills go before the tracks ruin eachother....but most trance and all it's sub-genres seem to go anywhere between 20 seconds and 1 or 2 minutes long. I once had Prodigy - Smack my bithcup (slacker remix) running behind Greg Murray - I Feel Loved (Club/dub mix.. don't remember which one) for about 1 or 2 minutes... perfectly beatmatched.. no worries there, just messing with the EQs to make it all seamless.

the more you can use the EQs...the more seamless and thus the longer you can take with your tranny.

I know what you mean man, I've also had tracks run together for a couple of minutes together, but there ain't many that sound good when doing it, I've also had it where I've played like one entire track (mainly the vocals) over the top of another, to do a kinda Mash up mix, only problem I have is I need a 3rd table to continue mixing, cos the tracks are at the end, oh well one day I'll have a 3rd deck.

I've got the third deck problem solved, but no room for it! My two TTX1s are in a case and there's no place to put the Tech 12

I never time my mixes...but usually when mixing trance I make my mixes about 32 bars in length. Sometimes 16, and sometimes 64. 32 is the number I stick to the most though. 32 keeps the transitions smooth and gradual without clashing the two songs together.
