Stanton s550

Hi,
I've been mixing for a year and some odd months now and I want to add some CD action into my arsenal. I've been looking around and decided that CDJs are wayyy too expensive for what you're getting, so I've decided to go with some rackmount ones and build a case or something.

Tom Lee, music store in Canada, says they will special order me the Stanton s550 for $520. If I order it online, it will only cost me around $360, but then I have to deal with shipping, customs, and everything else so it works out to be a real hassle at just a slightly cheaper cost. I also want to be able to return it easily if there is a problem.

Anyways, before I head down to the music store tomorrow and slam down some cash for these decks, I need to know if anyone has had any experience with these, good or bad. Searches on the forums show some semi-positive reactions.

I'm not looking for pro decks, lots of people buy CDJ1000s and never use their full potential. Hell, I barely use the full potential of my decks (like that little metal dealie for the old-school records with the big hole in the centre).
I'm just looking for something with the same features as my 12s that I can mix with. Don't need effects, don't need loops (though it looks like the s550 has looping, some people say it isn't mentionable).

Also, I'm very new to CD decks so I've got the following questions:
- What is "over-sampling?"
- Will the connection be a single Phono cable out that I can put on the 3rd channel of my mixer, or will it be 2 phono cables that I have to put on the line section of channels 1 and 2 that have my decks (which would be nice, so I can switch between them)
- Are the laws any different playing CDs out than playing vinyls? Slly question, but I want to protect my ass from ASCAP at all costs.
- When burning tracks, does burning at a lower speed really give better quality? Someone told me this.

I'm totally looking forward to spinning my own tunes, and some of the rare stuff in my MP3 collection that I couldn't find. I also assume moth will be over here spinning his euphoric trance by the bucketload on a semi-daily basis, and mikefasssy with his gigabytes of depressing, depressing progressive trance.

Thanks!

Well I don't know about anything else, but I seriously doubt that burning cd's slower influences the quality at all... You have to remember that it's digital info, so it's a bit differant from records... The only differance might be if you have a shitty cdrw drive that produces a lot of errors at faster speeds...
