Question Advice from all Dj's PLEASE ......

I have 2 technics MKII, Pionner djm500 mixer, and sony headphones. Vinyl is eating up my bank account. I was thinking about purchasing a pioneer cdj1000 digital turntable, and in the long run, only buy vinyl that "had to have" and investing in cds , since there cheaper, and come with a lot more mixes per cd.

WHAT IS UR INPUT ON THIS? I just started dj'ing 1 1/2 years ago, I am not determined to become Paul van Dyk within the next 5 years. But at the same time, I enjoy/love dj'ing, and plan on doing it the rest of my life. Any input would be appreciated....

YES or NO Should I not get the cd turntable?
Stick with vinyl only?

THANKS ALL...

Get the Denon S-5000 instead.... Much better than the Pioneer's..... You can play an entire set off 1 of these if you wanted too.

Nothing wrong with CD's... The majority of top dj's use both... Just don't expect to go and download all your music and then go play it out live.... That's a NO-NO!!!

i'd love to see someone try to play an entire set with one table. the alpha track only lasts 30 seconds, that's not long enough. true, you can also use looping..

i'd like to hear it.

Man im in the same position as you....i got the exact same setup as well. Ive been spinning for about 5 years now, Over the last couple weeks ive been looking into a cdj-1000. Im actually renting one for a week to try it out first.

Collecting records is one of my favorite parts of DJing. I want a cd deck for all those bastard track i cant get my hands on....and there are a lot of them

I agree here, you should try it:
1)take the CD out
2)put the cd in a case
3)open the case of the incoming cd
4)get the cd out of the case
5)put the cd in your player
6)find the right track
7)find the right position
8)get it beatmatched

If you can do this all in 30 seconds, you're FAAAAAST!

Thumbs up

LOL... That's too funny. Beatmatching with 2 regular cd players...

Anyhows, Yeah, I LOVE BUYING RECORDS. I LOVE HAVING RECORDS. BUT DAMN! It gets way too expensive, and sometimes its just so much easier to buy cds than a 12", right? I figure I have the money, why not invest in cd digital turntable. I might as well learn how to incorporate vinyl, and cds in my sets right?

So 2 questions....

1) Denon vs Pioneer for Cd turntable ??? Which is better? And why ?
2) Where are good and reliable places to purchase cds??

Why always go for the most expensive around? From what I've seen so far in most setups in clubs it's usually 3 technics ans 2 pioneer cdj100s. So why not get the pioneer instead of the (i admit very sexy and attractive) denon

actually, I think the denon is a pretty ugly machine (sorry...)

Maybe, the CDJ100s is a little to basic to use in clubs... What i've seen so far is indeed 3 sl1200's and 2 CDJ1000s...

I really like the cdj1000s, it feels sooooooo good when you turn that wheel...

I prefer the denon because of the looping and multi track from one cd abilities, it is also cheaper than the 1000's or the new 1000mk2. With my denon's I now have 4 CD players instead of 2. I don't really scratch so the only advantage that the pioneer has (it has better scratching) is ueseless to me...

As for doing a whole set from one player...I was just saying you could do it... not that I would... I guess if you had your it all set up... say 3 or 4 cd's with your songs planned out, you could do...But I haven't actually done it yet... If I get a chance maybe I'll record a mix with just one player to see how it comes out...

As for the pioneer cdj100... it bores me...If I was in the position to add to an existing turntable setup, I would go w/ one denon or one pioneer cdj1000 over 2 cdj100's anyday.
