new clip...technical input plz??!!

Hey all. I just got a few choir samples into the works. I'm using FL4, but many elements here can be understood by any avid producer. I've got this sample for you to listen to. Give me all kind of opinions, but also..

Is a low-pass filter the best way to bring inthe synths on a buildup for this one? The synth is alot of sawtooth and square combos, so it's not your usual trance synth with all sawtooth.

the kik is too prominent isn't it? what do you think would "calm it down a bit?"

the snare during the choirs...good? not good? (i'm not talking about the snare drumrool)

(more specific to FL users)I'm also having trouble keeping the choir strings going...they tend to just cut out if the string is too long... how can I fix that? I'm already using reeverb and delay.

thanx for any help guys!! much appreciated.

SAMPLE HERE!! [fyrious - pull together (clip)]

You should definitely use low-pass filters on this one. This will always work, whether you are using sawtooth or square synths it doesn't matter.

To calm the kick down, just use another one. I can hear you are using the standard fruity kick, which is ok, but it just won't do. Search your samples/the internet for 909 bassdrums.

The snare during the choirs is a bit overflanged IMO, but that's just personal preference.

The choirs are stopping probably because the sample is shorter than your notes. You can use the crossfade feature in the sample panel of Fruity Studio to loop the samples, so that the choir gets repeated after a certain time.

Hope this helps!

BTW: nice synth you've got there, it's really energetic and pretty original IMO...

Maybe play with the amp filters to get the choir sounds not ending abruptly. Especially the Amp Release.

Yeah, LP filter should work fine. You could also try other filter types and swing the choir sound in. Use all types and experiment with how they sound.

Keep the snares in the choir but give them some more reverb.

Change the kick

my word of advice... (sorry couldn't hear the clip.. not at home)

is DO NOT USE FRUITY SAMPLES!!!!!!!!
Get samples from the internet.. there are tons of free ones

one of the best ways i find to do this is to use a search engine for sounds... and then search for what kind of sounds you want (ex. hi hats, bongos, kicks)

I have built up a huge library of sounds from that... also, you can also check the website from where you got the sound from because they usually have a bunch more samples

just my word of advice... i used to use fruity samples too .. Fruity loops is a great program... it is very easy to get creative and it is a powerful tool... just that it's lacking on the samples and synths which can be easily replaced ... although i do think that the 3xosc is a very versatile synth and can sound very good if you know how to make it sound good

if u want some free vst's search this forum for a thread i made about free vst synths a while ago
