Most Influential Person To Trance

Now this was not done properly on another board, so I figured why not take it to this board.

You have the following choices

Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, Oliver Lieb, Tiesto and OTHERS

no armin because he has not been around long enough

Now remember this is NOT THE FAVE PRODUCER, this is WHO HAS DONE THE MOST FOR THE GENRE!!!!!

It's not an easy question

I figured I would post my opinion seperately

It is a hard question because many people have done a lot for trance. I personally think that Paul Oakenfold would have to be the one to vote for because he had been pushing the sound since 1993 and without him, without him, who inspired Tiesto and others.

I voted for ferry because he has one of the biggest back catalogues in trance and has produced under so many different aliases. Tracks like out of the blue, his remix of barbers adagio for strings and the gouryella work with tiesto are some of the first tunes too have that trance formula that so many other producers copy today. Now he's trying to create a new style of his own again with tracks like punk, rock your body rock and right of way so for me he's definately done the most for the trance genre.

I would have to say that Oakenfold has had the biggest influence on the genre, more in the past than recently. If we were talking more recently I would say Paul Van Dyk but Oakenfold has been pushing the trance scene since his GOA Essential Mix-he was the initial inspiration (as already stated) to the likes of Ferry, Tiesto, PVD etc.

i think oakey as well. he was one of the first to represent "trance" and still does somewhat to this day.. all others has done alot too but oakey was the first out of the list up there.

Considering how long Oakenfold has been in the business, I'd say him

Whoever invented the Synthesizer.

PVD has definetly been the father figure of trance he has more or less led the way from day one. He's not my favourite producer but you have gotta give the man credit.

Who knows what Oakie et al would have been playing in 99 if Lieb hadn't been there first?
