MP3's skipping HELP

I recently installed some antivirus program: Sophos Antivirus since my university required it to be installed. However, now, my mp3's are constantly skipping when I'm trying to listen to them. THis is pissing me off!!! Anyone have any idea as to how to fix this

1. switch universities
2. uninstall the program
3. live off-campus
4. listen to the radio
5. burn your songs on CD and then listen to it on a CD player
6. grab an empty garbage can, 2 drum sticks.. now flip the garbage can and with your left hand, hit the middle of the can in a 4/4 pattern... for the high hats hit the edges of the garbage can to give it a sizzle... now hum your favourite tune along with it and voila! trance at its finest

You either have to increase your RAM or just change mp3 players and see if that solves it. Otherwise look in the options of the virus software to see if there is a way to run the program on less memory.
