Fluctuating MP3 Mixing or Belt Driven Techs

just wondering, for the people that download mp3s and put onto cd to mix with cd decks, I was wondering, do you have any hard times with some mixes, cos I was thinking, if someone ripped that mp3 off of a vinyl that was being ran off of a belt-drive turntable, or some other crappy turntable, the the beat won't have been steady, and the beat will have been recorded fluctuating throught the track, so if you were using these mp3s in Finalscratch on your really good, pitch holding Techs, then wouldn't the whole point of having Techs be thrown out the window, cos now your mixing with a recorded fluctuating beat, well I better stop, I'm tired and sick of typing.

I bet with a subject title like that, some people will be like WTF?

most djs have good enough ears to tell that the pitch is fluctuating and therefore will trash the mp3. i know i would.

Agreed - if it's changing rapidly enough that it will matter, you should be able to tell... but I doubt belt driven turntables are that inaccurate. Belt drive turntables used to be superior to direct drive technology actually, because they provided a smoother transfer of drive from the motor to the platter, and the motor was designed to run at a constant speed (For those without pitch control).

Yes occassionaly I come across an mp3 that doesn't keep the pitch too well and you have to make adjustments as you mix. Some are just terrible and can't be used, but are pretty rare.

As long as your downloading the mp3 from a known group, this shouldn't be a problem anyway.

Thanks for the responces guys, I've never experienced anything like this, cos I've never mixed MP3s before, it was just on my mind.
