So, I'm flying with a Japanese Captain this month, and it just so happens we have some things in common...

I mentioned what type of music I listened to, and the references started coming up....turns out she went to High School with Towa Tei in Yokohama and they were in the same "band" class. She tells me he sucked at playing istruments, but was good at composing/producing music...thus..go figure at what he does.

Secondly she lent me a tape of YMO Live concerts from 1979. One concert/set called "Hurrah" and the second called "High Tech Video Crime".

I'm watching it right now and it's right up there with Gorgio Moeroder. Classic, electronic beats and synths (throw in an electric guitar)...real old school techno.

I guess if you wanted to look back in time at the orgins/evolvement of the electronic movement, this may be a good place to look.

I know there are other threads about the when/who got you into trance/electronic, but 1980 was when I started on the electronic binge. Anyone else have any leads/recommendations on old stuff like this similar to YMO, on video/cd?
