things u might not know about G&D.

found this write up on Gabriel & Dresden. it's definetly a good read for those who might not be familiar with these guys' work.

JOSH GABRIEL
Josh, 33, has been making music with computers since the mid 80's. His signature production style involves sculpting sound into musical textures, taking listeners on a journey. In the dance music world, Josh is known for his debut progressive track, "Wave3," and his Gabriel & Dresden remix collaborations for New Order, DJ Tiesto, Way Out West, Rodger Goode, 4 Strings, Paul Oakenfold and Beber&Tamara.

Josh was also the co-founder of Mixman Technologies remixing software, responsible for the creative and technical direction of the product for 8 years. His diverse background includes positions such as mastering engineer (Disney's "Aladdin" soundtrack), sound designer (Oddworld video games), and training engineer for Sonic Solutions editing systems at Warner Brother's Films, Sony Music, and Disney Studios.

Josh has an undergraduate degree in music composition from California Institute of the Arts and has studied at the Institute of Sonology in Den Hague, The Netherlands.

DAVE DRESDEN
Dave Dresden is a dance music junkie. For the last 15 years he has committed himself 100% to music. His career spans every corner of the industry working as a DJ, journalist, A&R, radio music director, and remixer.

THE EARLY YEARS
Dresden's zeal for dance music and culture developed early in high school where he frequented local Connecticut dance clubs and befriended the Café's DJ Moby, a local dj hero at the time. His early experiences at the Café fueled his passion to immerse himself in the culture that would become his career and lifelong obsession. From there, he purchased a pair of pitch controlled cd players and got to work. Dresden quickly cultivated a following due to his simple but effective music policy; play the right track at the right time and only play great songs.

JOURNALIST
His ambitions did not stop with spinning. While he continued to play in the clubs sometimes five nights a week, he became a dance music journalist by day. Dresden was named a reporter to the Billboard dance chart, and he began writing reviews and features for national magazines such as DMA, DJ Times and Mixer. Dresden profiled Paul Oakenfold, Moby, Masters at Work, Todd Terry, Sasha & Digweed, Puff Daddy, BT, Crystal Method, Keoki, Josh Wink, Chemical Brothers, and Deep Dish. Many of these artists' first American press came through Dresden's journalism efforts.

A&R
Since his affiliation with respected publications gave him easier access to obscure and unreleased tunes upfront, that gave him an edge. Dresden regularly contributes his A&R skills to Promo Only CD's and its "Mainstream Club" and "Alternative Club" series. In addition, he scouts new music for Pete Tong's highly influential Essential Selection radio show on the BBC Radio 1. Through his efforts there, Dresden has hipped Pete to some rather large records, three of which have become "Essential New Tunes", Tong's method of gauging a guaranteed hit.

Dresden's wide knowledge of dance music led to the opportunity to help select songs for Nettwerk Records popular Plastic compilation series.

Dresden has also had a hand in producing compilation cd's and single releases with other independent labels such as Strictly Hype, 4 Play and Max Music. In addition, he's accredited by his own releases for Strictly Hype's trance offshoot Sunrise; Trancendence: The First Wave, and the hit packed Transit.

RADIO
His radio career began with the long running, highly rated "Electro Circus," which aired on Hartford, Connecticut's modern rock station WMRQ from 1997 until 2000. Dresden's radio career continued as music director and on-air personality for GrooveRadio, an internet radio station during the year 2000.

PRODUCER
Dresden now applies his talent and knowledge of the music in the studio, collaborating with various producers on remixes. Currently Dave has been busy remixing tracks with San Francisco producer Josh Gabriel under the name Gabriel&Dresden. To date, the two have remixed tracks for Way Out West, 4 Strings, Dj Tiesto, Rodger Goode, New Order, Beber& Tamara and Paul Oakenfold.

Thumbs up

Very impressive info, looks like these guys are more talented than I previously thought. I wish it would show better in their tracks, as its too dam slow and sleepy for me ... I dont like much of hard trance or hard electronica period, but G&D's productions are a bit of ... slow tempo, I'd say. I am gonna check em out live on Jan 17 in Toronto, so I'll get to have a better impression.
