i've heard rumours that sony headphones don't last very long in terms of frailty. I think they break quickly, even with people's cautious hands.

Always buy headphones for the matrix styled interface on the back of your skull. Always. It makes copper sound like crap.

Sony headphones are generally of a poor build quality (break very easily), have poor sound & Sony have poor customer support (for repairs etc).

I've never heard of the other one, so I don't think they are a very well known brand, this could be good or bad.

You're best off going for Sennheiser's headphones, such as the HD25 which is the best headphone in the world, probably (aside from ones at about £1000 . They are used by countless djs, sports commentators, etc. If you cant afford those, just go for a lesser model from them.

I own AKG k240, they're 10 years old still work great, I've never had any problems. Plus they have one wire design with cuts down on tangle. Obviously these are best for non-portable situations cause the are big. The sound is true which means they don't add artificial bass what u hear is what u get.

I was thinking he should look into Sennheiser...they make good quality stuff. A friend of mine was really big on Grado phones a few years back (www.gradolabs.com).

I have never listened to anything on AKG phones but I know they make very good microphones so, like Sennheiser I would assume their headphones are also top notch.

Taken From turntablelab.com:

We can easily state that this is the best pair of headphones we carry. The only thing we don't like about these is the steep price tag [$237.00]. Next time you watch a professional basketball or football game on tv, look at the headphones the commentators are wearing. 9 times out of 10, it will be this model (plus mic attachment). The HD-25 is especially designed to keep out external noise and produce a crisp, clear sound environment. With the crowd at it's maximum decibels, they only hear what's in the headphones. This feature translates perfectly for DJs. Sound in a club should never be a problem. And with its wide range, low range response, and crisp highs, they also function excellently as studio monitors. Improvements over the HD-25-SP include a wider frequency range (16-22000 Hz vs. 30-16000 Hz), a single output cord, and a more robust design with moving joints. Solid construction.

All I have to say is that this are the best headphones I have ever used. Expensive but worth every penny of it!

lol, if you had tried others you would know that Sennheiser have by far the clearest sound.

I can set them to the higest volume, whereby I can hear them at the end of my (long) garden, but they are still not at all distorted .

grados rock i have the SR225, they are soo nice.

if you want to find out everything you ever wanted to know about headphones, go to some headphone websites and forums.

head-fi.com

do some searches in the headphone forum, youll find TONS of threads on the 7606/V6 and a bunch of stuff on the AKG's too

what source do you have? (computer soundcard/any cd players etc etc.)

i might return to this thread if not good luck
