recording troubles recording from vinyl to cd!

hey.. i just got a cdrw121 so i can begin recording my mixes, but the damn thing won't work! myself, along with many other music lovers, can't seem to get the thing working. have any of you had experience with this model from RCA? I would love to begin recording my mixes, but i read somewhere that only a certain type of cd will work. do any of you have this cd recorder and if so... what kind of cds work in it? i believe i had it hooked up right.. so i guess it's just a matter of getting the right cd. i tried maxell cdr and cdrws... but no luck. any help?

thanks in advance,
pey

Is the problem with the actual burner, with the burning software or what?

What format are you saving the files in?

i guess it's a problem with my cd recorder.. everytime i enter a cd and try to get it to record it says.. "digital audio cd only". but i've tried tons of different kinds of cds from cdrs to cdrws.. i've even tried rca, maxell, and a few other brands. i've also tried to hook up the cables in the back with every possible configuration. i would love to get this thing going so i can get my demo out, but it's a little frustrating.. any ideas?

Waiiiittttttt a second - do you have a CD burner inside your computer, or do you have one of those stand alone consumer CD burner things? I heard the consumer stand-alone's required a special kind of home-audio CD, which was different from what you get at a computer store.

i actually have one of the external cd recorders. it's ironic because i bought it thinking it would be easier to record, but in the end it's just been a pain. you think there is actually a different kind of cd that i could buy that would work for it? the instruction manual, which is very poorly written, states that it should work with the cds i have, but i'm having a little trouble getting the damn thing working.. do you know what kind of cd i need to buy so i could record a mix?

U didn't answer the question, the first thing is giving the complete name and model of your burner. now if its a burner that looks like a module off a hi fi stereo it most likely only burns Music cd's (by this I mean that on the cd case it has to say for music cd burners) these burners can't record on data cds (while a pc cd burner can) so first give out the model of your cd burner and then ask were you can buy blank "music" cds for it these cd's aren't hard to find but from what I found out while buying these cds for my grandfather's burner they are a little bit more costly than regular data cd's....

i actually wrote the kind of cd recorder i have above.. maybe you missed it but, it's a RCA cdrw121. i took your advice and went to fry's today and bought "audio" discs for the external cd recorder, but now i'm having some other problems. for example.. plugging my mixer into my amp, then plugging my amp to my cd recorder. it seems simple enough and it seems like it should work, but it just records nothing. when i hooked my recorder up to my mixer it recorded, but not very loudly. they recommended turning up the volume to max... you guys have any ideas on how to connect my recorder to my amp to my mixer?

thanks, i know it's a pain helping people out..

ahaha well lessie.. maybe i'm just being dumb here but... i feel like i have a little bit of experience in this area. aaanyways, when i plug my mixer into my recorder it records... but i don't hear what is being played, so basically i have to mix through my headphones and the mixes sound bad because i can't match the beats as well that way. if i could plug it into the amp, then run it to the recorder then i would be able to record and hear what i'm playing at the same time. does that make sense? with the current setup (which is mixer to recorder) i can't hear anything that's being played because my speakers aren't powered by the amp!

still having troubles...
