I recently talked to the producer Lys via e-mail and I've asked him a couple random questions off the top of my head to get to know him and to allow TA's to know him. I would like to thank Lys for taking his time out to answer these question, you truly are a talented producer.
So here we go:
1. Where are you from, your website is in a different language, I'm just curious to know your background.
I'm from Italy, near Venice, were i live and work in my Studio, i start djing in 89 (the original "Your Love" year...)
2.How long have you been producing and what do you produce on?
produce from 91, some of my most important productions was
LYS "Move on Your Body" 1996 UMM rec
SWEEP "Got Me Movin'" 2000 on Rise rec included on Kontor top of the clubs 9 (DE) and others compilations in Spain
SUGAR FREAK "Music change my life" (lys rmx) 2002 Streetlab rec. n.1 on Hype Chart UK
Mr RALPH "I Have Got" 2001 4tune rec. on the top of Brasil charts
and of course LYS & GIGI S "Your Love 2003" on Oxyd rec.
actually me and Gigi have finished to work at the vocal version of Your Love, also there is a my project with the name Love Your Self coming out.
3. What was your main focus behind this song, were you trying to bring back the 99 sound?
one day my friend Gigi (the musician) sayed to me: "there is an old song that i like very much: Your Love of Frankie Knuckles[1987], why don't we try to remake it?" my anser was "Yesss! i love that song too!!" so I've tryed to use a bassline for the arp, a powerful groove... and the song was born!
4. What is the release date on this record? I know, not only myself but others, would also like to know this.
the promo copy was released on July in UK and on september in Italy, but now the records are finished! if you are lucky you can try to find it on Internet, use "Lys & Gigi" on Google and you can order a copy from a record shop on-line.
...the vocal version is coming soon!! of course with the version that you like on the b side.
It was great to actually talk to a producer, someone who takes time out for their fans, much respect to Lys.
peace.
Steve
