Lightbulb Highschool or college bands & trance

occasionally, you will hear a HS or college band play zombie nation at a football game or something... so i was thinking, what if other, better trance was played by school bands?

Life is too short (energy mix)
The Deep Blue (or Tiefenrausch, if you prefer) (orchester or Asys mixes)
or to a less "trancey" extent, Block Rockin Beats would sound bad-ass if played by a school band... (all of what i could pull off the top of my head that would sound good if played by a band)

what do you think?

I think the only reason why they play Zombie Nation is because it sounds like a football game song. Why else would people in the band play a techno song? I personally don't like the song because it sounds too much like something I would hear at a Steeler game or something.

im not sayin that a trance song would be played at a football game... maybe at a school concert or something...

anyway, my point was more toward "it'd be pretty cool to hear trance played by a traditional band" and also,(being a TA) it would just be cool to hear trance played at your school at all. also, if trance were "delivered" to ordinary people in an unusual "package" (trance being played by a band rather than by a turntable or digital recording)then maybe it would strike people differently... if people heard it played a different way, maybe they would look at it a different way, rather than just hear the actual song and instantly associate it with "techno" and being "crappy"

yeah itd be nice but it will never happen because school pay dj's to play the crap that everyones knows and the top 40 stuff is for sure. itd be cool for you and i but other people dont appreciate the music as much, and would lose interest in the 3 or 4 minute buildup.

When I was in highschool we had a school dance where they hired a trance dj to do it. That was by far the best dance ever besides the fact there'd be like 5 really pumping trance songs and then he'd cut to a couple rap songs.

well, at my sister's school fashion show, i got my wish.
one of her classmates loves electronic music, so he ran
his copy of: Steve Lawler - Global Underground: Lights Out

(hey its not trance, but trance is too high strung for a
fashion show, whereas steve lawler's dark progressive and
percussive beats were sexy, deep and dark, and went great
with the ambience. not to mention was cool to see many
hot girls in the crowd shaking it to some dirty tribal)

im trying to convince my class to get a good soundsystem
and ill spin @ our fashion show. better than modeling some
gay clothes...

I was watching the BC Notre Dame game and all of a sudden one of the bands just starts playing Zombie Nation and i was like wtf is going on. But the band here at the U of A played Bone Crushers-Never Scared at a football game a month ago.
House is played at fashion shows because the beat is constant enough that the models can walk down the runway and not miss a beat.

im aware zombie nation is not techno.... im saying thats what everyone else thinke all dance music is. if people heard it played a different way, maybe they wouldnt instantly associate it with the word "techno"
