it doesn't use the motor from a turntable to spin the cd. a cd spins about 10 times faster then a turntable does. it would be an unbelievable waste of money to put a 1210 motor in there. not only would it cost a lot more but to would make the whole unit bigger then it would need to be. the sound doesn't play directly off of a cd. a cd track is just a .wav file on a specially formated disc. the "sound" from a cd plays after it's buffered and decoded so the motor doesn't affect the sound quality or the speed of the sound. now it could be possible that they used a 1210 motor to turn the "platter" that allows you to control the track like it's a piece of vinyl. now that would be cool because it would actually feel like a 1200 platter. cheers.
Exactly, I believe it spins the platter. It'd be nonsense to spin the CD

They aren't released officially yet. The units you see in the video are still prototypes. So no reviews yet.

Well now, one person says the reported price is around 799GBP and another says 3000USD for each. I don't claim to be a whiz at currency exchange rates but I know that those two prices are nowhere close to each other. Which one is it?
I'm inclined to believe the first price because that would place them at a little bit more expensive than the CDJ-1000 MK2s, and I find it hard to believe that Technics would expect to sell a lot of these at 3000 a piece.
Does anybody have any links to back up one of these prices? They really do look nice.
