Unhappy Turntables

Hello folks...

I'm looking to buy a set of turntables so i stumbled across
the American Audio HTD 4.5 and it looks like a rock....

Of course I'm also a big fan of the industry standard Technics
but I simply cannot make my mind up on which one should i get?

Any Feedback Would Be Greatly Appreciated!!!!

You're gonna get countless post to get the Technics, So I'll save you the time of reading if you want to make a hasty decision.

I've had my technics for over a year now, and that does nothing to life of em at all.. They last for a long time. I haven't heard one bad thing about them. So there ya go!

peace.

Steve

i think the technics he was talking about were the sl 1200 mdk5
i can get the techs sl 1200 mdk2 for 350$ U.S. (used), I don't mind buying use because everything can be replaced in the techs thats what is so good about them. I'm working right now with old school deck sl 5100 lololol i just started so in a few months im going to get the real stuff, anyways they say if ur good with shitty equipment you'll be amazing with good equipment, so I keep that in mind..And btw, the american audio are basically for scratching, they have a huge ammount of torque, are you looking for a deck to scratch? or mixin in general?

i got my mk2s for $399 each, and free shipping from pro sound. the american audio decks look really good on paper, and the might be really good decks in person, but technics are in all of the dj booths of all of the clubs that i have ever played in, and want to play in. that right there, and technics awesome reputation was enuff to sell me on them.

even if technics were $600 each you'd have earned your money back within 6 years when the technics are still going strong and any other t/table has fallen apart in your hands.

Idea

I've decided to go with the American Audio HTD 4.5!!!

Man these turntables are sweet!!! The startup is awesome as
well as blue led lights!!! Its heavy as hell though because
of the motor!!

Does anyone know where I can get a coffin that would
accomodate my turntables as well as my 12" mixer
(Numark 5000FX)?????

I've posted the following quote in this topic.

These tables are good, but there is a better deck now!!!!

This is the one:
Synq XTRM1/Omnitronic DD5250/Akiama DJ4000 Acura/AMDJ HTD4.5/Stanton STR8-150/ST150/Citronic PD45/Reloop RP6000MK5.

A lot of manufacturers make this deck, so I call it “the OEM” (Original Equipment Manifacturer).
These tables are al the same (only the Stanton has another shape and some buttons are on another place) and IMO better then the SL of TTX1.

The OEM has an incredible torque (4,5kg/cm2) and when you slow it down or speed it up it comes back to the original speed really fast and not a bit “nervous”. The slider is also very nice and the tone arm is (almost?) equal to the SL arm.
Some people say that the SL and TTX1 are direct drive, well, then you haven’t seen the OEM yet. Push the start button and it’s on speed in 0,2 sec. If there is a thin record on the deck the platter even accelerates faster then the record it self

When I was spinning on this deck it felt a lot better then a SL and TTX. The motor is superb, the arm is (IMO) as stable as the SL arm.
The only thing that is better on the SL is the buzz of the motor, though it isn’t as loud as the buzz form a TTX1.

And also very important!
The price is much better!!!!!

If there is a deck that can become the standard and kick the SL out the club it will be the OEM!

If i should buy decks now, I would by the OEM. The only reason why you can doubt is beceause the SL is the standard, but once you've tried the OEM you're in love with it!
