i don't use it myself, but i have heard that it's good, but you always need more... well... maybe not need, but it's more fun and you can do more etc.....

check out the thread in the top about the best VST's and you got everything there.

Absynth is a great program, but its not enough. You would need a sampler/drum machine as well.

I don't use it a lot but it ranks out some seriously twisted atmospheric pads and stuff.

If you're thinking of using Absynth as your main synth (and there is no reason why can't do this - it's more than capable) be prepared to invest some time really getting to know it. OK, so you should do that for any hardware / software you buy, but some people here seem to like a quick fix and there are other software options that you can get into much more easily.

Absynth is definately very powerful... However, I find certain synths for different things...
Absynth is powerful but it can't do everything for you

Also, don't undermine other "lowly" synths as 3xosc

Some synths only appear to be "powerful" because they feature a lot of oscillators and have reverb and flanging in their fx panel... Which can be easily solved (in fruity) by just using more instances of the same synth detuned a bit and adding fx to each one of them

Absynth isn't one of them though... The raw tone you can produce with it is amazing

Other synths that I reccomend you checking out is FMHeaven, Crystal, Superwave... The latter 2 are free
