External MIDI Controller

I am using FL Studio4 and I am wondering whether it's worth getting an External MIDI Controller for Christmas.

Do you use one?

Is so, how good is it?

Any recomendations? I have a budget of around £120

I have a Radium 61-key midi controller, and I think it's great. I think you can get the 49key version for about 120 pounds.

i think it depends on how you're gonna use it. just as a help for editing events in fruity, or to control your synth and stuff while doing a live-set/mix?

when doing a live mix, a midi controler is a must-have, because there's no time to click through different windows, editing events with your mouse. it's impossible to change more than 1 value at time.

while makeing new tracks, i prefer editing events with the mouse, so i can edit them seprately. sure, i could swith into record mode, playback my track, and let fruity record all of my actions. that should work. but i think i'm even faster with the mouse. and i don't have to program it first

I'd get the Evolution UC-16 (around 95 eur)
i've already tested it and it's fun 'playing' with your track this way. you can get some wicked effects and breaks easily. and, the quality of the used potis is excellent!
if want to spend some more buck, get his big brother Evolution UC-33 (190 eur). beside the 24 potis you'll get 9 assignable faders and 14 buttons. very nice addon.
