Can someone please tell me why did Twilo close ?

First of all I really miss Twilo esp all those legendary 7 hour PvD@Twilo sets--nothing compares!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Twilo had been a target of NYC Mayor Guiliani for a while. He had characterized it as a drug den esp since the death of a clubber last July of an overdose of drugs. There were many rumors and reports that Twilo management had hidden overdosed clubbers in a back room and not properly attended to sick individuals and that they had purposely hired private ambulances so that the city would not know of the numbers of overdoses occurring. I dont think this is true but whatever. Finally they closed Twilo because, citing violations of building permits or something. Supposedly Twilo did not have the proper permits for the building or whatever and the city did not renew its Cabaret license so it could not run anymore. This has been so shitty and I miss Twilo and I hate the tyrant known as Guiliani. I think Twilogoddess can probably give you more details or can clear up any misinformation I may have mistakenly passed on.

Also I think you or someone asked about PvD's last set at Twilo. He played an amazing set from 2:30a.m til 10:30a.m which totally rocked. The second best night I had at Twilo. At the end of the night he played For An Angel and then when he finished he kissed it and threw the record out onto the floor and about 20 people jumped on top of each other to wrestle for it. Pretty cool.

I'm sure that NY's mayor is a mafioso . Twilo was probably the best North American club , it's bad to see it shutdown

just as i was getting obsessed with going to twilo it shut down. i was going to go this fall and i got interested in in right before the big shut down. what a piss off. my dream of dancing to PvD under the twilo disco ball listening to the phazon disintegrated because of the asshole rudy.

I had many absolutely magical nights dancing to PvD for hours under Twilo's disco ball

well...i never went to twilo!!!!!!!!!!!1 it really sux...cuz..i was in korea takin care of my grandma..since she was sick..and i came back to connecticut in may..and heard dat twilo shut down!!!! i juss wanted to know wut it was like..cuz..i heard so much about it!!! oh well...hopefully...the other clubs will get better..keke...

But in all seriousness... I have basically stopped clubbing because of the shut down... There's just nothing left in the city that compares...

It WAS nice however to see a lot of old Twilo faces at Vinyl a little while back... i forget who it was that was spinning, but i had stopped by after Emerson at Centro Fly (which was alright)... SigH... i'm sorry... i get all... i have to go...

"sniffle, sniffle, sniffle"....I drove by Twilo slowly on my way home last Fri at around 3 in the morning and no sign. It was so sad and when I think of all the amazing nights I had there I feel like crying but then I smile cause I am just thankful I had those amazing times.

BTW the night of Max Graham/Darren Emerson at CentroFly, Danny Howells was at Vinyl (July3rd).

fuk Twilo....I miss the PVD nights I had there...a wonderful experience....the club itself was ass.
