Satan (eek!) James Holden - The Wheel

This tune is awesome, also in Balance 005.

How would you describe this tune? ambiant-prog-breaks?

just awesome!

To be honest, I dont think this tune is anything special compared to his other stuff. I was actually a bit dissapointed when I first heard it, but after a few listens it growed a bit.

Nah this is crap, like the whole Balance 005 compilation, he's tried to be all arty farty by making a fusion of the mimimal & electro sounds with the standard progressive house & breaks format.

This tune is just your standard rolling JH beat+bass with an electro fuzed melody, but he doesn't pull it off

I think that it's a pretty good track, though not amazing.. IMO James is making a very clever step into another style before the people get bored with his sound.

You may not like it Teknoscaper but the whole Balance 005 is very innovative.. The Wheel represents the standart track from that compilation, kinda weird but tasty

I've actually been disappointed with this track and A Break In The Clouds... but that's me.

This is so much better than A Break In The Clouds. I don't know what Teknoscaper's problem is, maybe the latest Balance got too much exposure for him or something, but The Wheel in particular is brilliantly atmospheric. You describe its elements then add offhand "but he doesn't pull it off". With no further qualification that's a rather useless comment as you didn't justify your criticism. You may not like it, for whatever reason, but that fact has little to do with the overall merit of the song.
