DJs - cartridge question

I may be in the market for some new needles soon....

Any recommendations?

Carlos, which ones do you have? They sounded good at Palazzo. Looked snazzy too!

Any recommendations (and please let me know how much - I've never bought these before so I don't know what's reasonable) would be greatly appreciated!

thanks and spanks in advance

Go with the Shure White Labels... those are the best out there. Expensive, but well worth it. Don't get Stanton Trackmaster II's, they suck... after awhile the start to produce this annoying hissing sound.

you can surely appreciate the difference between good and bad.
I am an Ortofon owner(Nightclub E), and Im just waiting for them to wear out to buy White Labels.
they are that good.

There also seems to be a fair amount of problems w/ the Shures, I think its a production problem because, most are good, but a few dont hold a groove and skip like a mofo. They are easily returned, and the next one worked fine.(for my friend)
Either that or the ****** never listened to me on how to properly balance a TT...I dunno

I use the SHURE Whitelabels
you can pick them up downtown for $120 each.
They're just as good as the ortfon Nightclub's, if not better.

"you get what you pay for", so, how much are you willing to spend?

i own a pair of Ortofon NC-E's too, and have never heard anything quite like them, definitely worth the extra dough

Agreed. Trackmaster II RS (Roger Sanchez Signature Model) came with my turntables (along w/ Stanton 680 ELs).

I never had sound problems with them but I found that they skated way too much and wouldn't hold the groove (even when I had the anti-skating/height/weight setup properly) which makes beatmatching more exciting (read: difficult) than normal. However the Trackmaster II were better than my 680 ELs. Plus - they came in a nifty little road case. But still - I wouldn't spend my coin on them.

Whitelabels are the way to go. Or if you like to drop big coin than I'd get the Ortofon Concorde Golds (who wouldn't want to play with gold plated gear? ).
