Artists using the same stuff

Do mosts artist use the same synths/sounds in their productions?

because from what Ive heard the Mainstreamers do. Dj aligator always uses the same bassline, Dj Sammy well....Nuff said, Scooter etc.

Im just wondering do most artist do this so they have a reconisable sound or cos they are lazy?

Id rarther start from scratch for each track

pvd isn't mainstream.. and he uses the same basslines for every track

I don't think using the same synths characterizes your style as an artist... For example, look at Garbriel & Dresden... Each of their tracks are unique and diverse and they never use the same synths twice (at least to my knowledge) and yet they have their distinct style of sound

Listen to Pulser- My Religion, and then his remixes of that DJ Sammy track and Firewall - Sincere. All pretty similar, and that's fine (minus the fact that he remixed DJ Sammy anyways =P)

as long as you are aren't copying anyone else, using the same style of sound will characterize your music... just don't copy other ppl's
