Gu024 Nick Warren - Reykjavik

If it's been posted already oopsie :>

Well a new Global Underground CD is going to be released soon. Release date is UK = 27th January / World = 3rd February / USA = 4th February.

"GU024 is on its way....... at the end of the summer Nick Warren and the GU crew took a trip to Reykjavik, where they discovered the famous blue lagoon, drunk vodka and the local tipple - brennivin and happened upon a few elves. The elves, the gu crew and some icelandic locals went dancing, nick played records, came home and has put together a brilliant album to remember it by. The album will be due out end of January 2003 and you can expect something sonicly sumptuous. You'll be treated to tracks by the likes of Boards of Canada, Planet Funk, Global Communication, Jimmy Van M, Momu, Avatar and quite possibly some new unreleased and exclusive Way Out West material."

No tracklisting yet...but this should be a good one!

It will be good. But Gu needs some new life into it, it's been the same old same old for a long time now. The last nubreed sent me to sleep . I just think they need some new blood , though dave seaman & warren cd's are great theres nothing new in them.

It's good that seaman & warren have been on top of their game for a decade but they have a monoply on the big gigs & mix cd's. I dunno wether this fits inthis post but i thought i might as well post it.

The last GU IMO was quite fresh because it was mostly breaks instead of completely progressive. The series is known for being the best in progressive so they'll probably keep it that way. Nubreed cd's always bring a fresh sound as well as they are done by up and coming DJs whereas GU's are veteren DJs. Nick Warren doesn't dissapoint though so this GU should be good.

Hopefully Warren will put some trademark energy into this new edition. Or he could just continue the trend that Seaman and the rest are following of going ever more progressive, to the point of boredom. GU certainly retains its mature sound, but the brand has, in my opinion, lost some of the melody and energy that made it dancible and beautiful to me.
