Depends what you wanna do with it. If you wanna use the D8b as remote controller, you need to activate it's HUI layer. Hook it up to your midi (d8b midi out to midi in of your DAW, and midi out of your DAW to midi in of the d8b). And in Cubase, select Mackie Hui as remote controller. It should be recognized right away.

Guess he's right hehe... (I'm a mod there )

Used some one a couple of jobs, and gonna use one to make surround mixes in school.

If you have a CRT screen connected (and a mouse) you can select HUI mode in the options menu. If I remember well, Shift+master (at the layer buttons) will activate the HUI layer.

If you want a detailed explanation, don't be afraid to download the FREE pdf manual of the D8b at the mackie website. It should definately get you going.

I've found it to be one of the shortest and easiest manuals to read (mackie have the reputation to make funny quotes all the time).

Wait until you've seen the manual of Yamaha gear.

The HUI layer gets explained in an apart appendix. Nothing too much to read.

The yamy stuff is a nightmare, thats 1 of the reasons for gettin the d8b, i have had a quick look though the manual and it is well laid out, i'm prob stressin too much but i have just ripped my studio to bits and added two new synths as well so i feel like i'm in a stange enviroment new kit, new way of workin and people wanting new stuff!!! hence the time factor

At least i know if i do get stuck there is help on here,

Thanks again mate,

Duncan
