First of all: you don't have to type everything in caps. It's annoying.
Second: Of course you need speakers close to you (and pointing in your direction) when mixing, otherwise it's gonna be tough (if you don't want to depend on mixing in your headphones). Booth speakers are therefore a nice thing to have 
Third: you can't just say there is one right way of EQing. It depends on the tracks.. But when you mix a non-4/4 track (i.e. breakbeat) into a 4/4 track, I wouldn't let the bass of the incoming track run for too long together with the bass of the outgoing track.. Most of the times it'll sound quite crappy I think. So a quite quick changeover (or a long one, with the bass of one track cut) will do the trick just fine..
