Red face Is Booth Speakers Important

HI GuYS AND GaLS, I'VE STARTED MIXING ABOUT
4 MONTHS AGO.I HAVE LEARNT ALOT WHEN IT COMES
TO BEAT MIXING AND GAIN CONTROL.BUT
ONE THING REALLY UPSETS ME IS THAT ON
ONE DAY I MIX WELL AND THE VERY NEXT DAY
TERRIBLE.I DO NOT HAVE A BOOTH SPEAKER NEAR
ME.COULD THIS BE THE REASON ?
IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE A BOOTH SPEAKER ?

ANOTHER THING I WOULD LIKE TO FIND OUT
IS HOW SHOULD MY EQ GAINS BE WHEN MIXING
OUT FROM A BREAK BEAT TRACK TO A NORMAL TRACK?

THANKS ASHAL

First of all: you don't have to type everything in caps. It's annoying.

Second: Of course you need speakers close to you (and pointing in your direction) when mixing, otherwise it's gonna be tough (if you don't want to depend on mixing in your headphones). Booth speakers are therefore a nice thing to have

Third: you can't just say there is one right way of EQing. It depends on the tracks.. But when you mix a non-4/4 track (i.e. breakbeat) into a 4/4 track, I wouldn't let the bass of the incoming track run for too long together with the bass of the outgoing track.. Most of the times it'll sound quite crappy I think. So a quite quick changeover (or a long one, with the bass of one track cut) will do the trick just fine..

i'd say as long as you can listen to the master out on your mixer you don't NEED monitors

i mix in my headphones all the time
and even when mixing in the club i'll just take one ear off and mix like that

i trust my headphones, i sometimes don't trust the monitors
i've played in clubs with some really shitty monitor setups

you need something close to you becuase sound doesnt travel that fast so what you hear to match beats may be delayed if your speakers are too far away. think about an echo in a room. it may be subtle but when you are trying to match phases it makes all the difference in the world.
