Steve Lawler - Lights Out 2 Review

HOLY FUCKING OWNAGE.

This CD is pure tribal perfection. If these beats were played in a club, the ceiling would surely fall down on us all. If you like tribal house, or liked the first Lights Out BUY THIS CD NOW!

CD2 is the better one of the compilation too.

Review on my fav tracks in the mix:

CD 1:

Danusha - Movin On (Gabrielle D'andrea Electro Mix) - A fun prog house track with electro elements in it. I love the electro synths in the song. The dark bass kick and the electro synths go together like vodka and sex.

Steffano Noto pres. Faith SOunds - London Night - One of those dark prog tracks that makes you feel like a pimp when you're drunk or coked out of your head. This is definately a "don't fuck with me bitch" kind of track. It coincides with Steve's darker side of prog. A good track.

CD 2:

DJ PIerre vs David Morales - Make it Hot - A track that progresses to such a point where you feel like you're going to blow your f.ucking load by the end of the track. The whole song is just a huge buildup, that keeps you begging for more. The only thing I don't really like about this song are the cheesey vocals. "Oh deejay! I want to feel it! Make it hot!" *rolls eyes*

Sahara - The Only One (Bini & Martini Cosmic Dub) - Another VERY heavy track, with a HUGE bass kick. This song has a "continuous" feel to it. No breaks to the beat, just a continuous journey into progressive madness. Awesome track with trippy vocals.

Alcatraz - Give Me Love (That Kid Chris Mix) - Awesome tribal track with some sick steel sounding drums. These are one of the HUGE vocal tracks that Lawler is known for. Even though his tracks are usually very tribal with minimal looping lyrics, this is one of those songs with sexy vocals that make you want to find a bum to grind.

Prophets of Sound - Tide of Dreams (Brancaccio & Aisher Mix) - Another very danceable, heavy prog track. I love these badboys.

Jaydee - Platic Dreams (Future 2003 Mix) (Lawler Nip 'n' Tuck Edit) - Not so much a tribal track, but a very rigid, heavy prog track that would surely floor any crowd that was subjected to it.

8.5-9/10 for the King of the Tribal Drums!

apperantelly Steve Lawler is no more a King of the Tribal Drums
he is officially considered in UK as tech-house dj, which is in my opinion is redicolous.

btw GULO2 is amazing dirty tribalish compilation.

True this CD Rox and blows (Lights Out 1) out of the water. But Lawler's Essential Mix from last month is still better IMO.

Check it out.

Lights Out 2 > Lights Out 1

Very good cds. Especially DISC 1 which is my fav CD from this year!

Can't wait for Lights Out 3 which will be the HARDEST of the three.

quote:

lights out will come in 3 albums, the first one was more of an experiment into the darker side of house music, and the debauched head fuck sessions. The second installment is the more sexy anticks, funky dirty bass lines, lush vocals, electric sounds and acid movements for more of an ass shakin, cheeky grinning dirt fest on the dancefloor... and The 3rd will be the more tougher sound that you hear me play in clubs with continuess energy and madness, relentless drums, and rushing breakdowns etc.. then you will have about 8 hours of what musically exites me, moves me, inspires me and ultimately what you get from me...

ps. he's going to be posting a special unreleased Lights Out 2 disc on his website pretty soon, kinda like the unreleased 3rd disc from Lights Out 1.
