hmm so how much would it cost to start up a radio or get a good program on a radio station here in nyc? i know its hard to get a new station up and running in nyc sincee you will need a lot of capital and most of the frequencies are taken. But would it be hard to get shows on public radio stations? or would getting a show on the net or satellite radio be easier and cheaper?

The reason why i am asking all this is because nyc really doesnt have any good radio stations that promote dance music. I know we have ktu on the weekends but it would be nice to have a regular weekly or daily show like what WLIR 92.7 used to have(not sure if they still have it). TO showcase the djs whos come into nyc and spin. Possibly have an agreement with the club/dj to brodcast part of their sets on the radio. I know some radio station out in cali do this. GBDJ bordcast is also another good thing, but its in Fl. It would be intersting if we can get some good djs sets brodcasetd here in nyc area

WNYU 89.1 FM would be the most likely candidate but they don't play trance just other forms of electronica.

As far as music of that genre you can try to get stations below the 92 Mhz level since that's where most college stations play. I have a friend who hosts a Techno show (yeah I know this is a Trance forum) on a Connecticut station. Here's a summary of his emailed playlists:

Fusion Radio airs every Wednesday night from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm on 88.1 FM WESU. The station broadcasts at 1,500 watts covering Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts. WESU boasts 2.3 million devout listeners. James Fusion has been energizing the airwaves locally and dancefloors nationally since 1992. In addition, James is a producer, columnist, and generally a nice guy.

You would have to live in the outer boroughs for you to try "fringe or skip" tuning of dance FM stations.
Other than something like that you would have to be delegated to internet radio. There are plenty of upstarts there. One thing that you have to realize is that with stations like WKTU and WXRK is that they are too commercial and are not like their European counterparts.

they used to play trance.. they even had pvd as a guest dj back in the summer of 99.. i was tuning in one night, and pvd had come in to do a guest mix right before his gig at twilo..he promoted his single Avenue sayin it will drop soon, and he bounced.. kinda awesome if i think about it now.. the fact that he wasnt as "big" as he is then...

It don't sound like much but I've had the X-Mix 1 cd for the longest now. I took it to the first Virgin Union Square signing but peeps were saying "You must have the Global dvd to be signed not any other items..blah blah blah". Fucking management staff suck ass and they the ones that get all the fuckin' comps.

actually i might have the interview section of that show on tape.. gotta look for it harcore tho, no guarantees..
