Political Chaos grips Georgia - Good or Bad
From BBC-
"Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze has declared a state of emergency after opposition forces seized parliament.
He refused to resign and said the armed forces would now take over after what he called a coup attempt.
Crowds led by main opposition leader Mikhail Saakashvili stormed the parliament building after weeks of protests over disputed elections.
Nino Burjanadze, outgoing speaker of parliament, says she has become interim president.
But the situation is confused, with Mr Saakashvili appearing to suggest that Mr Shevardnadze could stay on - but only if he called early presidential elections.
"If he announces... some transitional period for new presidential elections, that's fine," he told CNN."
I'm very interested to see how this plays out as there are U.S. oil companies working on a pipeline from there and have a lot at stake in how this develops. I wish more people around the world were able to rise up like this though in their own nations when they say enough is enough to corrupt, chrony politicians such as Mr Sheverdnandze, who in the best interest of Georgia should resign. When your one means of direct expression is through the votes, to have that taken away through election corruptions as in Georgia is truly sickening. I believe that Mr. Shevardadze believes that he can survive this as well, because he has survived direct political assassination attempts in the past throughout the early to mid 90s, only time will tell if he is wrong.
