Okay so I have this paper I need to do for my Abnormal Psych class where I have to go to some type of therapy session and write down my observations and experiences. I thought it was due on Monday but its due tomorrow and the group therapy places I've been too wouldn't let me sit in on the sessions. So I'm pretty much F*ed.

Can anyone who has actually sat in on a group therapy session tell me what exactly goes on? How does the facilitator or therapist conduct the session? Do they do more of the talking or do they make the patients go around and speak? (PM me if you don't feel like posting about it). Info please! THANKS!!

damn liz i feel you.. you ARE pretty much f*cked.. i wish i can help but ive never had those experiences so there..but i mean couldnt you just think how it will be ? like, many movies have those group thearpy scenes.. lol i think depending on certain ones im sure they all have their own way of doing things.. just say the one YOU went to did this n that.. nah mean ? hope it helped.. btw, when is your finals over ?

Haha Tae! OH man at this rate I guess I will have to start making things up, but thing is my professor is an actual clinical psychiatrist, so I'm scared that she will be able to see right through it all. But oh well. Thanks for your affirmation of my F*ed situation hahaha

Hmm finals for me are over Dec 18th at 12pm.

yea thats what I've been doing the past couple of hours. I even found some paper sites to get ideas from but most of the info is about the actually disorders, not on first hand accounts of group therapy.

I took psych during my senior year in high school... half of the topics that are covered can easily be BS'ed.

Anyways... one can always read one reference site and then make things up.

There's a site that you can use (and then start to make the rest of the crap up ^_^). Just scroll down to the second half of the page and start reading. It lists lots of stuff that's used/discussed in therapy sessions.

i have no clue about what they do in group therapy. I havent been to one before
