Hey guys, I am trying to put together a logo animation of the logo below. If u don't know what I mean, go watch the logos at the beginning of movies (ie Universal logo, Paramount logo, Jerry Bruckheimer, etc, etc.)

Probably not that complicated tho. Something simple but... cool.

Also, what software should I do this with? I made a few attempts with Flash, but exporting to .avi wielded unsatisfactory results.

depends on your skillz if your elite then id use 3d studio max or bryce, if you an amature then id use Animation Shop By jasc.

Adobe products are good try photoshop, imageready, after effects, and livemotion takes a while to learn how to use i still havent perfected livemotion. if you do try any of these check our www.adobe.com they have some tips and tutorials that will be usefull.
